Søndervig has changed a great deal over the last ten years: new buildings have been constructed, new faces have arrived, and every year more people choose to make this small seaside resort their second home, either as owners of a summer cottage or a holiday flat. It is a development of which the Søndervig Centre Association and the Holmsland Klit Tourist Association are both proud and delighted.
But a town is more than just its buildings. A town is also the people who take ownership of it.
On Saturday 18 April, the Søndervig Centre Association and the Holmsland Klit Tourist Association are therefore inviting everyone to a joint litter-picking event in Søndervig, as part of the Danish Society for Nature Conservation’s nationwide campaign. The meeting point is the car park at MENY, Nordsøvej 6, at 10.00 am, and the clean-up will last until 12.00 pm.
The aim is simple: to give Søndervig a much-needed spruce-up before the tourist season gets properly underway. The Søndervig Centre Association and the Holmsland Klit Tourist Association hope that permanent residents, holiday home owners and holidaymakers alike will put on their gloves and turn up. And if you have family, friends or colleagues who would also like to lend a hand to nature, please bring them along. The more of us there are, the more we can achieve, and the stronger a sense of community we build around the seaside resort.
After the clean-up, the Søndervig Centre Association and the Holmsland Klit Tourist Association will fire up the barbecue and serve sausages with trimmings to all participants.
The initiative in Søndervig is taking place alongside similar events in Hvide Sande, where a colourful rubbish battle between the north and south sides of the lock is expected to unfold in its very own style.
Help us get the seaside town ready for the season.
