West Jutland's iconic beach, with perfect accessibility and endless possibilities

If you’ve said beach holiday, you’ve also said Søndervig Strand: the expansive West Sea beach where the whole family can enjoy a refreshing dip.

From the center of Søndervig, the walk along Badevej leads up to the disabled-friendly slope of the terrain carpet: wheelchair users, people with walking difficulties and the elderly all have easy access to the wide sandy beach.

In summer, TrygFonden lifeguards watch over the many bathers, making it a safe choice for families with children, while the wide sandy beach offers plenty of space for all activities: from swimming and ball games to kite flying and sandcastles. If you are vigilant and follow TrygFonden’s 5 swimming tips, you can swim in the waves of the North Sea all year round.

The beach also hosts special events such as beach yoga and sunset services in the summer, and the iconic Winter Swim Festival on New Year’s Eve, when several thousand people gather on the beach to say goodbye to the old year.

The many day-trippers who follow route 15 west when summer hits are testament to the beach’s popularity. But Søndervig Strand also offers refreshing jogs along the water’s edge and magnificent nature experiences in the middle of one of the country’s largest and most beloved holiday home areas.
