Summer houses
The first summer houses on Holmsland Klit were already built at the end of the 1800s, but it was not until the beginning of the twenties that summer house construction took off, mainly in the Søndervig area, which was most natural for the towns of Ringkøbing, Herning and Holstebro.
In the middle of the 1930s, there were approximately 250 summer houses and around 1.500 summer house guests at Klitten. In the 1960s and especially in the 1970s, there was a huge development in the construction of summer houses, so that in the early 1980s there were approximately 4.000 summer houses on Klitten. Today there are approximately. 6.000 summer houses distributed over the entire tang.
