The fjord

As the Gateway to the North Sea, Søndervig is most often associated with the North Sea and the beach, but in fact Søndervig is close to no less than 3 fjords. Ringkøbing fjord, which is one of Denmark's largest, offers a multitude of water sports activities for the whole family. The fjord is not particularly deep, with a good sandy bottom and therefore attracts both kitesurfers, windsurfers, kayakers and bathers who want a calmer experience by the water.

Information

Stadil and Veststadil fjords are feeding grounds for hundreds of thousands of geese, migratory and breeding birds every year. In spring and autumn, they come in large flocks and settle in the meadows along the Stadil and Veststadil fjords. On a trip north from Søndervig, it is clear to see the many birds mingling with the grazing livestock.

If you live in a summer house in Søndervig, there are good opportunities to cycle along and around the fjords. By cycling you get really close to nature and the water and thereby get the chance for really good nature experiences.
